SUSTAINABLY STITCHING
TURNING PACKAGING INTO GARMENTS AND ACCESSORIES
"SHEIN" the very famous e-commerce fast fashion site that is worth about $15 Billion has the flaw of packaging each item sold in an individual sealed plastic bag. I took it upon myself to start a collection drive, locally and globally, to gather these identifiable bags to then repurpose them in a new fashionable light. Using TikTok to get the word out and showcase what could be done with this material is a continuous game changer. The options of textiles of transforming these bags are endless; where stitching, ironing, dying and weaving just scratches the surface of possibilities. So far, the collection I have created consists of making fabrics water resist by the plastic tendencies of this material, to then make a activewear line. This line is a mixture of fabrications to utilize the bags in making accessories such as cross-bodies, totes, phone purses along with garments of pleated tops, skirts, vests, jackets and the list will soon grow. The audience and followers I have accumulated through this, created a beautiful fuel to drive and continue this journey, where the collection of bags still pile up.
"SHEIN" BAGS HAVE BECOME A SOURCE OF FABRIC AND A MESSAGE TO ANY GENERATION THAT REUSING IS THE NEW, NEW.

ABOUT ME
The start of sewing in kindergarten, was just the beginning of a hobby becoming my life. My education at Marist College, beginning in 2018, allowed me to advance my skills by majoring in Fashion Design. Throughout my time here, I created a love for my two minors of Merchandising and Product Development. I’ve tried to get involved in a variety of projects, all of which have somehow become part of my ongoing creative journey. As I continued my years, my portfolio displayed here is my work in multimedia forms with a story behind each photo. I hope to inspire and evolve the world of fashion we all live in.
